Adapted from Euripides, this play focuses on the moments just before the Trojan War begins. Agamemnon, the commander-in-chief of the Greek Army is told by an oracle that unless he sacrifices his daughter IPHIGENIA, the winds will not arrive and allow the ships to sail to begin the war at Troy. After considerable suffering, he agrees to kill her, and the war begins. The play asks the question: is the sacrifice of a child necessary for war?
